1 burnt to death in Helsinki, man killed in Pieksämäki road mishap

One person was burnt to death in a fire at a building in Helsinki while a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Pieksämäki on Sunday, police said in separate press releases.

Police said that one person was killed when a fire broke out in an apartment building at Kartanonvoudintie in Malminkartano, Heksinki in the morning at about 11:00 O’clock.

Responding to an alarm Rescue service personnel and police rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

They recovered the body of the deceased from there.

Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the victim and the origin of the fire.

They are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.

Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed when a private car knocked down him from the behind on Järvisuomentie road in Pieksämäki, a municipality under South Savo region on Sunday evening at about 7:30 p.m.

A man under 40 years old died on the spot in the accident but police did not disclose his detail identity.

The car also tuned turtle on the spot but the driver remained unhurt.

Police are investigating into the case as aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and aggravated manslaughter.

The Accident Investigation Board is investigating into the case to find out the circumstances surrounding the incident and the reasons behind it.
