Finland lost to Sweden in their third group match by 1-2 in the Ice Hockey World championship in Avicii Arena, Stockholm, Sweden late Monday night.
It was Finland’s first defeat in the tournament after two consecutive victories against Austria and France.
The hosts dominated over the Finns from the beginning of the match and Leo Carlsson scored the first goal for Sweden during power a play at the fifth minute.
Jonas Brodin widened the gap at 28th minute and took the 2-0 lead.
The Lions tried to come back and created pressures on the hosts but failed to score until 53 minutes of the game.
Harri Pesonen scored the solitary goal for the Finland and the last three minutes the Lions played with empty net and created several chances to level the score but finally left the ground with 1-2 defeat.
The Finns will play with Slovakia in their fourth group match on Thursday.
